Importance of Copper in our Body

Copper convert Iron in hemoglobin (HB) and help the iron to absorb in blood. It also improves red cell growth. The normal quantity of copper in a normal adult person is 75-150 mg approx. Liver, brain; kidney, heart and hair use more copper than other parts of our body. Women have more copper in their blood than men and during pregnancy they need more. We absorb 32% of copper which we get from our daily food. A shortage of copper can cause baldness, cold body, weak brain, joint swelling, lower weight, problem in the digestive system and respiratory system.

  • Barley, millet, whole grain, rice flake, soya beans, chickpeas, green beans, betel leaves (paan ka patta), radish, beet, tomato, onion, potatoes, brinjal, green leafy vegetables, walnut,cashew, dry coconut, peanut,almond, orange, pomegranate, grapes, ripe papaya, ripe banana, guava, plum and fish.
